A leader of a collaborative group of researchers narrows in on a study of interest that they wish to execute. The group has multiple conversations about available resources needed to successfully execute the project (funding, supplies, equipment, personnel, etc.). Increasingly, they realize that they lack expertise on the team necessary for one aspect of the project. They decide to adjust their initial research question focus, which allows the project to successfully proceed. They plan the next phase of the study securing the needed expertise to move forward on the next phase.
